Healing
I respect the different reactions people have to the word “healing.” For some it’s woo-woo; for others it’s strictly clinical. For me it sits between those extremes.
I’m balancing clinical interventions (for example, detecting and removing a melanoma) with actions that activate the body and mind’s healing capacities. It’s a collaboration between complementary approaches — the mental and the physical, the clinical and the internal.
I’m grateful for personal development, excellent coaches and mentors, and the lessons I’ve learned working with clients. Those experiences are what I draw on as I move through the healing process after medical treatment.
My question is simple: how do I best mobilize my body and mind to heal, restore, and build resilience to lower future health risks?
We in the Western tradition are often taught to place health decisions entirely in the hands of clinical experts and dismiss anything that lacks scientific proof. Yet working with a coach who helps you access your own capacity for balance — tapping into homeostasis, the body–mind tendency toward equilibrium — can be life-changing.
We often hear that we’re “our own worst enemy.” What does that mean for your wellbeing, and what would change if you learned to work with, rather than against, yourself?
