Purpose
This weekend I have been reflecting on my purpose and what I am dedicating my energy and resources on.
It is a deliberate choice to balance my work - life balance with time and capacity for my two chosen volunteering organizations.
Every client I take on is in fact contributing with resources to the work I am doing with Men’s Resources Tasmania (https://www.mrtasmania.org/ and Tasmanian Men’s Health and Wellbeing Association (https://www.tasmen.org/)
Between these two incredible organisations the impact generated across a wide range of men, their families, colleagues and the wider community is deep and profound.
Key offerings is forTasmen annual Gathering (TMG), every March long weekend. They also have a range of men’s groups and social activities.
Men’s Resources Tasmania is operating as a Peak Body for boys and men in Tasmania, and the most prominent activity with the biggest impact is their Building Pathways program inside of the Tasmanian Prison Service. Delivering Peer Support Training and support, where prisoners are trained to support and look after new arrivals in very challenging and for many traumatic experience. Another exciting offering is coaching and mentoring program for prisoners that are getting ready to transition back into community. Communication skills, practical skills, sound resilience strategies are some of the focus areas for our work. The impact is profound and the feeling of doing work that really matters is more than inspiring…..!
As much as I am putting into the work within these two groups, what I get back is exceptional and well worth the effort.
Being able to donate my time and skills to make a difference and contribute is one of the more ‘surprising’ lessons in my life.
My values and purpose has fundamentally changed, and for this I am for ever grateful.
If you are at a stage in life where you are pondering doing anything similar with your time and skills I can only recommend that you give it a try, you might also find out that this is for you for any reason or other.
I would love for you to check out the two organizations via their websites above, and make contact with me if you would like to have a chat and learn more about both what I offer in my business as a Coach as well as anything related to these organizations.
Maybe you even want to make a donation, and for this Men’s Resources Tasmania have got the added edge in being a registered charity and any donations are tax deductible.
