Emotions - let them flow…

FIFA World Cup, The Beautiful Game is well and truly underway and for anyone caring for the game and their national representatives performance it is a rollercoaster of emotions.

Since I am so incredibly privileged to hold citizenship of Norway and Australia, I have been able to ‘‘ride both horses’’ up to now.

So sorry to see the Socceroo’s bow out already, BUT now all the attention is directed on cheering my native Norway soldiering on into the next stage.

Facing England in the quarterfinals - who would have dared believing in this a year or two ago?

I am very conscious about the various emotions and energies surging in my body as it all pans out in high definition, thanks to SBS for a brilliant coverage!

Expectations and hope has been building up for some time as the results from the qualifications and initial stage has kept moving…

I have used this rollercoaster of impressions and emotional highs and lows to consciously getting more in touch with my emotions.

I allow myself to shout and cheer in front of the screen, and I find it both freeing and amazingly therapeutic.

Watching the coach (Ståle Solbakken) making exceptional and frustrating tactical decisions like in the final match v France, I can only bow my head in respect.

A well rested topped team played havoc with the idols from Brazil, and Hey Presto!

Coaching is so many things, including inspiring individual players and the whole team - helping them believe and be confident in that they ARE ALL GOOD ENOUGH!

Imagine the pressure around the team, back home in Norway and even more so at the arena’s where the Norway supporters are always in way less numbers than the opposition!

Make decisions and stand by them, trust your knowledge and instincts.

Respect and Gratitude.

What is your observation and impression from the tournament?
